I wrapped things up at Payless today. It was very bittersweet, and I am terrible at goodbyes, but my excitement for August made leaving a little easier.
If Veronica had been at work today, I would have had her snap a photo of me for the blog because she would have understood wanting to capture something momentous like a last day at work for the blog. Instead, I'll just share this old one that Victoria took a while back.
I packed up and shuffled out around noon to meet Joe for lunch at a local BBQ joint. I was glad Joe happened to be in town this weekend, and spending time with one of my favorite native Topekans was a swell way to end a 26-month stint of driving there daily.
When I got home, I whipped up a half recipe of this lovely peach blueberry cobbler. Erin, Margaret and I are having potluck dinner tonight, so I will showcase it in all its glory after I bake it at Margaret's.
And here's a little preview of where we'll be later tonight: O'Dowd's!
Let the silliness begin!
